Idle adjustment on 1999 Affinity

I just completed my first trip (2000 miles) in my new to me 1999 Affinity with a C12 Cat engine. The coach was absolutely awesome but I am concerned about the idle setting. While sitting stopped at a light, I have to really hold the brake down hard to keep it from moving. When I release the brake, the coach immediately moves forward with no gas input. Is this normal? Otherwise, the brakes work fine, pressures are good and they have plenty of lining left. If anyone can direct me on how to adjust the idle setting, I would appreciate it!

Hello Jim, what you posted is normal for a diesel engine and Allison transmission in these Coach's.........What rpm does it idle at when in neutral? 700-800?

We have a 2000 allure and I had the same problem I think. The previous owner had the idle set too high for my liking. This is adjusted by the blue Idle switch on the left console. I backed mine down to around 600-650 but then the exhaust brake wouldn't come on. I turned it back up to 700-750 and all is good now. It still pulls a tiny bit on level ground but isn't pushing hard like it was. Bump yours down a click or two and see if that helps.

I need to check and see what the actual idle setting is but mine doesn't have an idle switch on the console. I'm wondering if there is another way to adjust it.
I have also noticed that when underway at highway speeds, my exhaust brake doesn't immediately come on when releasing the throttle. Sometimes, it comes on when I slightly reapply the throttle and when I fully press the throttle, there is a few second delay before I start accelerating.

OK, my idle resting in neutral is 600 rpm according to the CAT LCD display on my dash. Seems low according to the posts above but maybe normal for a CAT C12. Maybe it is a setting in the Allison transmission causing it to engage and pull at this low of RPM.

I don't think anything is wrong, I can idle out of flat campground/parking lot. Yes, with the Allison you have to keep a fair amount of pedal pressure to keep it from moving. Mine is this way, but my rpm's don't go up when put in drive......does yours?
