Intellitec Power Smart 50A EMS and Multiplex Control Master Failure

The Intellitec Power Smart 50A EMS (Model 800) and Multiplex Control Master failed in my 2007 Country Coach Allure 470 - the EMS load shed/Display meter and Multiplex network that controls my Multiplex network (lighting, water pump) in my 2007 Allure.

The Multiplex Control master provides power monitoring (amps on AC panel) and load sheds 120V and 12V circuits PLUS provides clock and sync signals for the Intellitec Multiplex network that is in my coach for 12V lighting, water pump (2007 Allure). The multiplex control master is located in the AC distribution panel and has a 120V and 12V (low voltage side). In reality Intellitec provided the entire AC distribution panel with EMS load shed, plus the display meter which can be coupled with the output modules (latching, dimmable, etc) can control lighting, water pump and many other intellitec network modules for coach control.

Anyhow, a couple of weeks ago I awoke at midnight to all the coach lights flashing on and off, and an acrid electrical burning smell in the coach. Once I woke up, standing in front of the AC panel and shutting off main 50A ganged breaker and house disconnect - I realized something fried on the master control.

Back to bed once I changed my shorts, and found this the next morning. Relay #4 on the load shed board (electric element in my AquaHot 450D) shorted and nicely provided 120VAC to the low voltage (12VDC) circuit board. Done.

My Power smart display went blank once the network Master Control board was fried, as the complete network was down. Obviously I also had no interior lighting, water pump control, except for the master overrides located in my washer dryer closet (located in the back on my coach near Intellitec output controllers).

Direct part (00-00894-300) is no longer available. However Chris Bayus at M&M Rv Electronics (authorized Intellitec repair/service facility, Ohio City Ohio) was very knowledgeable and extremely helpful. The Intellitec part 00-00894-700 is a direct plug and play replacement. Highly recommend M&M RV Electronics.

The 120V relays can be a wear item - I am aware of two other boards for CC owners that have failed.

Hopefully this helps another member.

Brian,

2 things jump off the page: You’re OK and there was not a fire. Wow, what a story. I’m sort of glad this Allure has no Intellitec on it.

Glad you got the parts you need to rebuild it. Are you considering replacing the entire unit and upgrade?

Take care,

JG

I replaced the main power shed/Master Control board with the upgraded part 00-00894-700. It is newer version for the Power Smart EMS Model 900 or 960. It provides exact same functionality as the older 00-00894-300 (Model 800). So not anticipating any other upgrades as the original multiplex system and power shed/monitor display works as originally installed.

Only difference is the new -700 has a built in (firmware programmed) 2 minute delay on power up. The -300 did not have that in firmware. Not a big issue for me.

Brian.

EDIT: - if you have a load shed Power Smart system with display meter (pre-Multiplex network lighting) you have a similar board in your AC distribution panel - may be a 00-00894-200.

Thanks for this post. Glad to see you were able to get parts. How much was that board?

About $375. In stock at M&M RV Electronics.
