Inverter Error
The house batteries are full (plugged into shore power all weekend) and when I disconnected from shore power I turned on the inverter - the error light blinked red and the inverter light blinked green.
The engine is not charging the house batteries. They do charge when plugged into shore pwer or when the generator is running. Not sure if that helps diagnose the above issue.
Thanks!

What was the SOC of the Chassis batteries when you turned the engine (hence alternator) on?
If too low, then the house battery will likely receive no charge until the Chassis battery is charged and also the inverter draw may overwhelm any charge from the Alternator setting the error signal?

There is an engine oil pressure switch that allows your alternator to charge your house batteries when the engine is running. If that goes bad-which is not uncommon-the engine will not charge the house batteries.

Dean, the house batteries were fully charged from being plugged into shore power at the campground when I started the coach.
Rich, I've not heard of an oil pressure switch. How do I find it on my coach (350 Cummins ISL)?
Thanks!

John,
When you start your engine, oil pressure builds causing your oil pressure sending unit to go to ground. This trips your boost solenoid, connecting your house and chassis batteries, allowing your alternator to charge both sets.
Your oil sending unit is below the starter. Your boost solinoid is in the upper area of battery compartment (where your inverter is located). There are two solinoids next to each other. The other one is for the salesman switch. Have someone push your battery boost switch and listen for a click. The grounding wire from the boost switch and oil pressure sending unit end up on the same terminal on the solinoid.
You’ve got my number if needed.
Bill

First thing I would do is disconnect the phone plug on the inverter that goes to the control. Wait a few minutes are plug it back in. Check for proper operation. If that doesn't work then remove power to the inverter, wait and then reapply power

Thanks, Don. I did that and nothing. Called Xantrex and they walked me through the hard reset steps again. Still nothing. Called them back and they walked me through testing the output AC from the inverter. NOthing. So, the RV2012 is shot. Need to replace.
So, any thoughts on which one to replace with? I want PSW this time, and GS on the remote panel. Other than that, I'm open. Magnum or Xantrex? 2000W or go with something larger? We don't and likely wont have a residential fridge.
Thanks!

Inverter Error
Magnum. That will be my choice when I need to replace my Xantrex RV3012. I believe they have better control panels and features to manage.
Edit : going larger may require new battery cables, AC feed Romex/breaker and evaluation of battery bank capacity. Don’t forget to look at battery charge rate differences if you do change size. Charge rate should be matched to battery brand (if known) and bank capacity - to optimize battery health.

I'm having issues with the Xantrex in our CC (2006 Inspire 360), but in our case, it's not charging (neither from GenSet, Shore Power, or Alternator).
If it turns out the Xantrex is broken, I'm replacing it with a Victron MultiPlus or Victron Quatro. Best screens by far, can even monitor over the internet, and has bluetooth. Also smart linking with solar charge controllers and battery monitor (which I installed a few weeks back when I discovered charging issues).

John, either Magnum or Victron would be great for you, but I strongly suggest a hybrid model if you have solar and/or a sizable house battery bank. I think the Magnum hybrid is 2800W and the Victron (which is what we have) is 3000W. Let me know if you have any questions.
