Inverter remote problem Xantrek/Trace RC7GS
Continuous beeping alarm does not respond to any of the buttons.
Can't find troubleshooting information anywhere. Did read this, to power down and disconnect both ends of cable and then reconnect/restart. Is there also a backup battery on the RG7RS board that should be removed to fully reboot?
This thing is really old and obsolete. Question is what can it be replaced with that would use the same cables? Obviously very difficult to install new wiring between remote and inverter.
First question:
Service guy thinks it is a given stuck button on remote. I'm a bit skeptical since this thing failed very suddenly and has had very light usage. I did find a used RS7GS for $300 from an authorized service center. However, I'd like to try and troubleshoot first and confirm the remote is really bad before I spend this much money on something used.
Second question:
This thing is really old and I see a lot of Xantrek options to update. If I replace inverter and panel, what can I use that will retrofit without a lot of trouble and use existing wiring? Xantrek or other brand/model/number? Prefer simple and more reliable!
Third question:
The generator start confuses me. Below the RC7GS remote is a separate generator start button but the remote also can do this. Seems redundant. Will the button below the RC7GS also start the generator from inside the coach? If so why do I need a GS controller at all? I really don't need or want autostart. Just complicates things.
I know a number of CC owners have replaced these inverters. I'm looking for something I can do myself, maybe just a newer version Xantrek.

Try unplugging the jack from either the inverter or the back of the panel, wait a few minutes and then plug it back in.
We went from the RV2012 to the MS2812. The cable was useable, with a adjustments, so not a major change over. If you don't use Auto Generator Start, skip the AGS module. The MS2812 was a simple remove and replace on our coach. Take a look at how you use your coach, and electronics, to decide the other components to add into the swap over (If you go that way.) (I have the BMK, AGS, SMC modules, and went with the ARC50 panel for enhanced functions. And of course, suggest Battery Temp Sensor no matter which way you go on other components.) (If you travel to places and use 30A and or 15/20A power frequently, the MSHxxxx series of Inverters might be a good choice. It allows you to supplement lower the 50A supply with onboard batteries. I would have gone this way, if it had been out when I made the switch to MS2812... Missed it by about 6 months !)
I liked the PSW vs MSW for the electronics in the coach, so going PSW had always been my plan.
Best of luck to you, and hope the existing problem is a simple one!

It wasn't obvious from your post whether you had this manual or not, so here's the RC7 book: https://www.rvtechlibrary.com/electrical/RC7_owners.pdf
Regarding the Gen Start buttons, I've never used the panel button, just the rocker switch under the panel (and in the bedroom). I guess the panel button is there for those rigs that don't have the rocker switch. Dunno.

I'm eyeballing that hybrid Magnum for when our Xantrex eventually bites the bullet, Smitty. Watched a couple of videos and I love the concept.

I do have the manual but it doesn't cover troubleshooting problems like we are having. Thanks for the copy!
I was hoping the rocker switch would operate independent of this inverter control and it does appear to do so. We didn't have this fancy inverter setup on our '98 Allure and I didn't miss it at all.

I guess there's no error message in the display, either?
How about a flashing LED?
