Ipad for NAV?

Who uses a tablet for navigation and if so what software are you using? Also, what mount do you use? Any pictures of the mounting?

I was thinking of getting one of the nav units like Garmin but using an ipad would also allow using it for other uses like reading or surfing the net. I can also use it in the Jeep for off road mapping so more versatile. I just know that using my phone isn't working as the screen is too small (older iphone6).

Howdy!

I use my iPad along with Co-Pilot RV gps app. I purchased a tablet mount off of Amazon to mount it in my MDT. I also use the same app on my smart phone in the car.

Choose a mount that best works for you.

We use iPad and google maps. Have a ram mount with suction cup to hold it.

It looks like from your picture that you have a larger class a coach. I would suggest that what ever you get, it has an rv/truck capability. You can put the specs for your coach in and they will guide you around limitations that a standard GPS would get you into trouble with. They look at height, weight , length, and if you are carrying propane. I have not seen a app that guides trucks but, there are a number of dedicated units out there. If price is not a big issue, KENWOOD/Garmin makes a in dash version (DNX 571 TR) that I put in my coach that works quite nicely. It comes through Kenwood Canada but is supported by Kenwood and Garmin. It is available through Crutchfeild.
