Just bought 08 Affinity

Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions or improvements they made or know of that could solve or prevent any future issues. Owned lots of motorhomes and just trying to get on top of any potential problems. We have and still are working through a few issues to date. Otherwise we are happy so far. Thanks!

Congrats on your purchase. We have upgraded our televisions to flat screen 4K LCD, replaced a cloth fold out couch with inflatable bed to a magic bed in ultra leather, replaced the kitchen faucet with a high rise faucet with spray nozzle. Not sure what potential issues you're concerned with...I would make sure that the PTO is not one of the problem ones (dry PTO) unless you inspect it and maintain it frequently with fresh lube.

I've been quite pleased with our couch and, although we haven't put a lot of miles on it yet, it's been pretty much trouble free. The previous owner of our coach was meticulous with maintenance items and had added quite a few electronic upgrades and features (4 more cameras, upgraded Silverleaf monitor, GPS, dash cams, Pressure Pro tire sensors synced with Silverleaf).

Enjoy your coach and ask your questions here ... good bunch of CC owners here to help solve any issues you may have.

Carl has so many screens to monitor it's a wonder he can see the road!!

OP, what engine do you have? I'm asking because there are known problems with the ISX 650 and to a lesser extent the 600's.

Just bought 08 Affinity

Hello bc99,

Congratulation on the new coach. We too have just purchased a new to us 09 Affinity. We will take delivery near the end of March as we gave the dealer a long list of things to do. A few of the main items were:
1. New tires all the way around
2. New TPMS on each tire
3. Install the Air Force One compressor for our toad
4. Install an electric brake controller as we may want to pull a trailer some day
5. Change the oil in the motor and generator with all filters including air and fuel
6. Change the transmission filter
7. Service the aquahot
8. Upgrade the TV to a Samsung 4K LED TV
9. Install an Apple TV unit
10. Install a RF Mogul controller on the Motosat
11. Upgraded the stereo to a new unit with Bluetooth for the phone and subwoofer for better over the road sound as well as XM Sirius and GPS
12. Install a cell booster
13. Install a WiFi Ranger
14. Install a wine rack to make enjoying this much more civilized
15. Change out the interior ceiling and all bay lights to LED
16. Install the Girard LED outdoor-lighting kit on both roof awnings
17. Change the outdoor door light to an LED fixture.
18. Install 6 new lifeline batteries
19. New water filter on coach and fridge
And the list does go on however mostly personal preference changes. I hope his gives you a few ideas.

you may have them already but check the front tire size.315s are standard so 365s are the solution for capacity .You will need new wheels.

I think they went to the 365's at 6983 or so, mine is 6999. Damon Rapozo's website has some info on it.

Thanks for comments! Just to answer a few....engine is 600. Did drop a valve 5k ago. Was rebuilt proper and emissions all deleted. Seems to run very well now. At first was worried but got over it. All new tires and batteries, 365 on front. Smells and looks new which is big for us. Other stuff can be fixed. Stuff that isn't working as of now that is bugging us is
Code on front door won't lock or unlock but does beep

Water pump won't turn on or off from inside, have to go to plumbing bay to do so. Otherwise good

New inverters with updated silver leaf module but silver leaf is not recognizing the inverters. So put a control panel in bay for both inverters for now. Invert/charge as normal so far it seems though.

Silver leaf always reads bay temp as 32.

Back up camera works in reverse but fuzzy on screen while driving

Two various light switches don't turn off or on lights. One had to be my favourite one-the all off one at the front door! All off at rear works

Do need to put on a brake controller. Does anyone know where/what wires or plug to use under the steering wheel?
Thanks!

Rookie question. How do you know when you "drop a valve". My 07 Magna is 600 Cummins also. 30k miles on her.

Engine runs rough and check engine light comes on. In the meantime the broken valve pieces are chewing up the head, piston and liner, may even get into #5 like mine did.
Mine has dropped a valve at 14,000 and again at 47,000 miles.

Damon's site says the change was at 6986 and included going to the dual steering box Tuthill (Reyco-Granning) front axle.
