It is a Cummins ISX 600 HP. The pre-07 Emission, I do not know yet. I have requested the engine # so I can find out. Do you know if there is another way to find out?

Congrats. I would get competitive bids on the warranty. Dealers tend to be quite a bit higher than brokers.

Thank you for your kind words. Actually, the $10,000 quote from the dealer is through Cornerstone, but only for three years w/$100 deductible. The quote I received from WW is for four years with a cost of $10,800 w/$200 deductible. If I take it, I will probably go with WW.

Yes, my ISL is a 2007 EPA ' Clean Diesel.' It doesn't use DEF but has the EGR and the DPF. The prior owner had to pay for replacement of the EGR right after his engine warranty expired.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it will treat me well overall.

srh, congrats. I see my words in our PM made a difference. Like I said then, if I did not have my Magna, I would have fought you for your Affinity. Basically the same price I paid 2 years ago. You will love the coach.


I decided not to purchase the extended warranty. So far I have had very few repairs that would have been included on the warranty. Make sure the $10,000 is not amortized over the entire loan period. My dealer wanted to do that. That meant I would be paying the entire loan for a warranty that only lasted 4 years. Plus $10000 seems very high for 4 years. I had an estimate of $3400 for 2 years and thought that too high. I agree with putting the money in the bank, or better yet, invest it and make some money.


I also am a big proponent of annual maintenance whether I have 5000 or 15000 miles in a year. Make sure the dealer does a complete maintenance on the engine, filters and generator, plus have them service the Hydro/Aqua hot boiler.

Per Damons site emissions started with coach number 6914. As far as warrantee its just insurance so if your financial situation allows you to take a hit if it comes up you will be money ahead to basically self insure. If you would have to finance a repair do to cash constraints then you may be better off to roll the warrantee into the financing. It looks like a good deal and I would think the kinks are certainly worked out at this point. Most 08 affinity's I have seen came with the cat engine-trans combination. I do like the disk brakes on the 08 chassis.

I sure appreciate your words of wisdom - that helped towards making this big move! I just hope there are no unpleasant surprises when I see it.

It appears that this is great news as mine is coach number 6886A! Thanks for looking it up. I did look at Damon's site but obviously missed that.
I'm happy so far about what I see. This in addition to the standard options has nearly $80K in options for a total MSRP of around $846K. We will see what happens.
As far as EW, if I do not take it they would take off the $10K from the selling price. I can buy it on my own if I decide to.

Out of most all the comments I read I like the purchase one year and then decide. Unless you have $10K to $20K in case always in reserve I would always suggest some kind of maintenance on the engine and drive train. We have a 2008 Inspire FE 43 foot and have had some issues not big but issues that should have been resolved at the factory. If you do decide on going through with the purchase have them change all oil and filters on this RV on their dime. Before you drive out check all the filters to see if they seem to be new. Look at all the dipstick to make sure they had changed it. My hydraulic system holds 80 quarts of oil and the tank had now valve on the bottom to drain it. Had to take the top off and purchase a hand pump to remove the oil. CC had put the tank right above the big ole muffler which posed the drainage problem. Have them also change the water filter and have them go through the "whole" coach with you and educate you on all the functions. Make sure your inverter is one that either matches the year of the coach of is newer. I do "not" trust any dealer to do what they say they will do. All these issue I have gone through. Have you been on the roof? Make sure you visit it and make sure all the caulking is in good condition. Make sure you have a ladder to get up there with. Mine is a removable one on the bottom half and they were not going to give me one to go with it, however I caught it. Yours is probably a hydro hot due to it be an Affinity. Make sure again that they change the filter and the orifices small money to them and better fuel consumption for you. If the overflow is not above the tank have them mount it above as in the installation instructions they are supposed to do that. However it is easier for the techs to just mount it on the hydro hot. Run all the fans to make sure they are not making noise. CC was known to put a 24 volt motor to the 12 volt system. I have one in the B/R and it is loud due to the strain on the motor. If you have a couch in the living room there might or not be a heat transfer in the couch. If there is only one in your kitchen living room area and there is not one in your couch have them install one as ours is cool with just one. The couch has the round holes in ours under the fabric so that if we want it we could add it. You probably have heat pumps upstairs with the A/C units. Make sure you run both to insure they both work cold and warm. This RV is our third and probably our last one and even though most of the dealers are out for all the money they can get out of us I would not trade it for any other way of life. Hope I have helped
