MAGNA Fuel Lines

I heard that some early 2000 MAGNA may have had defective fuel lines. Has anyone had this problem? What were the symptoms? What was the fix?

On our last trip we lost power while driving on a flat road and am looking possible causes.

I have posted on the Caterpillar Engine Forum with the details of what happened.

Thanks
Frank

During that time period the fuel lines available were not compatible with the "new" re blended /ultra low sulfur/Bio blended fuel..

The fuel lines will "Rot out" from the inside out..Causing them to either leak or if under a vacuum to supply engines/generators/AquaHot/Oasis would suck air into the lines..

If You have a clear/transparent settling bowl section to the fuel lines to the engine/generator or AquaHot,. You "May" be able to see tiny air bubbles..
The only thing You can do in that case is to replace the fuel lines..
[We had to replace all the fuel lines [engine/generator/Aquahot] in our 2002 Coach year before last.]

SaddleSore (Hi!) is spot on about the fuel lines developing porosity holes, and letting air into the fuel feeds of the mentioned items.

We have an aquatic with a Beaver and the C10. He had a similar off and on problem for about four months. Multiple filter changes, and other scratching of the heads. Probably four different shops, along with himself, looked for the issue.

The last shop, the tech shook out the ECM and from memory (So don't take this to the bank!). He found a few singed looking pins, and I think a run down to the Starter did not have a real clean connection.). Addressing those two areas, got his C10 purring again.

So that's an attempt to share another C10 intermittent problem with power.

Best of luck to you. And please let us know what you found as Root Cause,
Smitty

SaddleSore, you make a good point about the older fuel line not being compatible with the new re-blended fuels.

Do you know how difficult is was to change out fuel lines.

Thanks
Frank

Short version.. A Royal Pain in the Ass..
I am not familiar with the basement /fuel and electrical passageways of the CountryCoach..
On the Foretravel, they have a 1' x 2' passageway for electrical/air lines & fuel lines from front bulkhead to the rear bulkhead. Was a dirty & slow progress job to replace the fuel lines..

I Hired Motorhomes of Texas to replace ours. for replacing all the fuel (and return) lines for the Engine/Generator and the Aquahot., as they have done many Coaches..
IIRC.. It was around $1000, And one very long day in their Shop.
(Warning.. With Fuel lines.. DO NOT try to go Cheap on the Hose & Fittings, or try to take Shortcuts /Cut Corners when replacing.. Leaks and the chance of fire is never a good thing..

I See that You are in WA State.. Check With Premier in Junction City, Ore. or Oregon Motor Coach in Eugene,Ore. to get the job done correctly..
(Both are Very familiar with Country Coaches..AND NO Sales Tax!.

All from memory..

What I can tell you is that when I replaced ny generator and hurricane heater fuel lines that run in the ceiling above basement lockers I inspected the engine fuel lines. Their quality nd condition far exceeded that for the generator/heater so for that reason I elected not to replace them. They are tie wrapped [zip ties] at many point as they travel thru the tunnel area. I had to cut an access panel to access the top of the fuel tank while not a fun job it was not a difficult task.

My hoses were a braided nylon type construction, they had a colored tracer / marker with no evidence of separation internally or externally.

on our 2000 Intrigue had Premier in Junction City do ours in Nov 2021. Six hours labor, they had to drop fuel tank and propane tank something I was not equipped to do. They replace fuel lines to furnace and generator, was told fuel lines to engine are metal and not an issue.
