Magna purchase

looking at a 05 Magna Van Gogh in AZ at a dealer. Checking on motor, asked a ton of questions..history, tire date stamps, batteries, foggy windows, etc. Did a Zoom video call today.. This will be our sixth coach so could tell this unit has been pampered.. Does anyone have a specific concern with this model, year, the C13 or anything else? My friend here in VA has helped immensely and is actually the reason I am looking to replace my 19 Newmar with CC.
Thanks in advance!

You're going from a 2019 Newmar to an '05 CC? Wow, whodathunkit? I have to say, being an '05 CC owner, that makes me tingly all over.

I asked similar questions before we bought ours. Here's what I can remember:
ENGINE
1. Check the engine's code log. If it's ever overheated badly, the heads may have cracked. That's a reported weakness of the C13. Otherwise, all reports I've read say that our '05 C13 is a right fine piece of engine.
2. If it has its original radiator (aluminum) then it's not a matter of "if" it will fail, it's "when" it will fail. And replacements/upgrades ain't cheap. Not that that's any big surprise!
3. "Wet spline PTO" vs. "dry spline..." The Allison transmission runs a hydraulic pump via a PTO. This pump, depending on who you hear it from, drives the radiator fan and maybe the steering pump. If it's dry (lots of research out there) you'll probably want to at least check and lube it, if not replace it.

SLIDES
There's a seal up on the top of the slides that needs a look. I can't remember where, exactly, but Google will turn it up. Failing due to age, they are.

What else?... Nothing comes to mind right now. I'll add more if/as it comes to me.

Steve

Thanks Steve. You are spot on. Motor was run hot to 234 degrees at least when sensor failed. So, who knows how hot it actually got. Coach only has 200 miles after this visit to CAT dealer. I think owner dumped this coach knowing possible expenses down the road. So, I ran from this one!
Thanks again.
