Electric door locks

Those four wires control the electric locks (latch and deadbolt). I had the same thing happen - wires broken due to back and forth every time the door moves.

I’ve attached pics of my fix, which should last a long time. I used silicone encased wires (nicely tinned also) - ordered from Amazon. Those wires are very flexible - much more so than vinyl encased wires. I enclosed the wires in a braided wire loom that runs between the door and the door frame

Pics are attached

Repair looks great
How did you identify which wires to connect as mine are all black

Trial and error. Two wires go to the door latch, and two go to the deadbolt. The pos/neg determines lock/unlock

So I used a 12v source and touched wires to figure out which two wires worked the deadbolt - then which pos/neg worked it to lock/unlock. Then did the same with the latch lock

Once I had that figured out and labeled, I tied the lock/unlock wires together - then connected them to two of my new wires, so that I have only two wires going to my alarm/locking system

A great idea. Guess I could use the remote to check which wires coming into the door send 12 volts out with the voltmeter
I imagine doing a continuity check would identify which were ground wires as well

I have to loosen my hat band...my head is getting bigger

Thanks,
Greg
