Hard to tell with only one picture. Presume that is the door frame but can't tell.

If the steps have been working in the past, closing when you close the door, and extending when you open the door, that's not the magnet wires. On my rig, the magnet is attached to the screen door, and you can see the pickup with the wires on the other side of the door jamb.

Kwikee stair fix update

I just talked to Kevin Waite and then ordered a new wiring harness from Oregon motor coach, for the door. He believes that is the problem and it makes sense since more of the wires are now ripped apart. The wire harness consists of 18, 22 gauge wires, two are yellow, the rest are black.

When I get the new wire harness and take off the door panel, I hope I can see which wires go where, and then I will splice in the other end that goes through the door frame and into the access hole in the front generator compartment.

What is the best way, and what connector type part should I use to splice the wires into the harness that is coming from the source?

It's hard to see in the picture, but the black disc just above/below where the wire harness comes through the door jamb is the magnetic switch for the steps. It should just pry out pretty easy. Normally has a matching disc on the door frame.

The door frame is dark in picture and I can't make it out.

Those broken wires are most probably the cause. Those wires control your steps, your door locks, the light inside by your step and the temp/compass on the dash.
If your are lucky you can pull enough slack in the wires from under the dash area (open generator and look up) an put new ends on the terminal in the door.
Yes you will need to open your door panel and mark all wires. Take pictures.

open door by taking all screws off, door handle and door lock.

Very very hard to find a new wiring harness with enough wires and small enough to pass through door grommet.

Kevin Waite sells a harness that works on the Allure but I believe you have more wires on the Intrigue.
Best of luck.

Thanks for the info on the wire harness. I contacted Kevin Waite and then ordered a wire harness for Oregon Motor Coach, as Kevin was out of stock. It should arrive tomorrow. I may let the local rv shop do it this weekend, as I am not excited about doing that wiring myself. But I may take a look at it to see if I can do it...That always get me into trouble. We will see!

Kwikee step motor

For several years I fought intermittent kwikee step operation, never knowing if it was going to work or not. Replacing switches, control board and etc.
Finally one day I determined problem must be in motor itself, so I removed motor and VERY CAREFULLY disassembled it,VERY CAREFULLY removing armature out of brush holder,I found one brush to be stuck in holder. After freeing it, I have never again had a problem again!
Good Luck

Problem solved

I got a new wire harness put in yesterday at the local rv repair shop. The labor was expensive, but now I have a new wire harness with steps that work as good as new, and my power bay lock switch works the front door lock and the two front storage bays.
