Not sure about that. My AGS (I installed it myself) is wired directly to the gen start switch. When a condition occurs (low house batteries, call for AC if shore power is lost) that triggers the AGS, it merely works as another switch, just as if I was manually pressing the start switch.

The AGS would need to continue to monitor the house batteries and not the added gen start battery.

hmm... you don't need to touch ags but you do need to reconnect batteries and genset... if you just simply connect the new battery to the house battery in parallel, will make no difference.

a few things to consider:
1) parallel between house batts and new batt
2) only allow current from house batts to new batt (use a schottkey diode)
3) genset starts from new batt
4) genset outputs to house batts

Do not connect new battery to house batteries. , only use house batteries to trickle charger.
AGM is wired directly to generator, has no effect on agm.
you will loose the "boost" to the generator, but you won't need it anymore, was just a patch to begin with.
