Radiator Hoses

I am thinking I should change out all of my large and small hoses when I have the radiator flushed and refilled with new extended type anti freeze.

Any idea on what it should it cost?
Where should I have this service done?
I have a ISL Cummings engine in a 2003 Allure First Ave.

I've had 2, 2002 Intrigues and the first thing I did was have them replace every hose they could get to, all filters, and all belts, including the generator. I just recently had the fuel line hoses to the generator and heater replaced. I also replaced the hose that come out the bottom of the hydraulic reservoir. I can't remember what i paid but it beats the hell out of breaking down in the middle of no where on a Friday evening on a 3 day weekend. (as you will find that is the day all unexpected breakdowns occur in an RV) If I was to guess the price I'd say it's under $3K. I had all that work done at a Cummins dealer (Rocky Mnt. Cummins) with coach care. Good Luck and safe travels

X's 2.

Like doing it on my schedule, in my shop where I know the gang working on the rig.

And pay close attention to the mention above of the smaller hoses feeding diesel to the generator and Hydro/Aqua Hot systems. These hoses were designed for pre ULSD fuels. They will breakdown over time, and small pin holes develop. Has resulted in fires, usually from fuel flowing down not a generator exhaust. New fuel lines were designed to handle the new ULSD fuels. (I used Gates Barricade lines, when ours were changed out.)

Toss in a new thermostat while everything is open too. We found that with Final Charge (Chose this because it is usually available at major truck stops.) our engine ran about 5-7 degree cooler.)

All of this adds up cost wife, but we looked at it as it was setting us for another 5-10 years of less risk traveling. (Said 5, as some items will be swapped out again at 4 years due to age.) For example, we did the Transyn swap over too. And I'll have my fluid tested at age 5, to determine if it should be swapped out then.

I do suggest either using Cummins OEM hoses for the engine related changeover, or Gates. (Nothing really wrong with say NAPA hoses. But I believe the Cummins and Gates are a for sure higher quality. Who knows what a shop might use if you don't specify your preference in hoses, and of course, be willing to pay a bit more if needed.)

Some of these make sense to do all at one time, others you can feather in over a years period to reduce the single impact to the wallet!

Best of luck, and travel safe,
Smitty
