We use adjustable plastic bars with two rods running across the fridge in front of the loaded food on the shelf.

Just ditched the 1492 & replaced with a Samsung.... have the same issues but so far haven't addressed them just yet.
Thinking the cross fridge bars will be a must & working on a idea for keeping the doors closed when traveling...... inverted "Horseshoe" piece of 3/4" carpeted plywood & velcro straps for the bottom freezer slide out? Ideas anyone (with pic's)

We got a couple short expandable towel bars from Walmart. Also take all of the stuff out and cover each shelf with the cabinet liner rubber (it really holds so it comes out when we stop for more than a few days).

We had the Samsung RF18 installed in our '03 Magna a few weeks ago. The installer, OMC in Eugene, Or., installed a latch, similar to a gate latch, on the right side of the freezer slide to prevent the slide from opening. The latch is pretty much not noticeable as it is between the freezer drawer and the wall to the right off the drawer. They also provided a small piece of velcro, with a buckle, around the two double door handles. The velcro they used is the size used to secure older style awnings. It might be 8-10" long.

All this works great........

You mean like this? This method has worked for us for over 30,000 miles and the doors and the freezer hasn't come open yet.

On rubber or glass shelving of refrigerators, the perforated rubberized rolls that you cut to shape, provide pretty good grip for items that won't tip over. My DW used put these into our Norcold and now our Samsung. Really helps keep things where they belong.

Travel safe, have fun,
Smitty

Don,
Would you have a photo of your fridge that is taken from a distance. Would like to see how the black looks with the cherry wood.

I still have the original Dometic 1272 and are looking to replace this fall. I am not a big fan of stainless.

Also I am considering replacing the inverter. I still have the original Trace. Or, I could just get a separate smaller inverter to run the fridge and keep the original Trace in there.

We do a lot of dry camping, mostly in State Parks. Most of the time we are in heavy forested areas so solar wouldn't help out much. Currently we can go three to 4 days, before firing up the gen on our 4- 6 volt GC2. But we currently never use the inverter for anything inside. No TV, no problem.

Thanks for any advice on this.

Brett
