Hi Folks,the right side tail light and directional on my 2005 Inspire are very dim. I have disassembled and cleaned the fixture that holds the bulb and changed the bulb to no avail! I suspect the ground termination may be at fault,but I have no idea where the wire for the ground is terminated. I would appreciate any insight that may be provided as to the location of the ground termination and any other suggestions.

To prove a bad grounding, use a separate wire to connect to a good ground spot and test.

Once you have determined that it is a bad ground, using the above suggestions, you can either follow the ground wire to its grounding location, or you can cut the wire and connect a new ground. Don’t be afraid to drill a hole in the framework under the hood for a good ground.

Can you check the voltge at the wires right where they go into and come out of the light?

Funny as it sounds, check the voltge of the ground wire as well. Find a good ground for your VOM negative lead, and put the positive lead on the ground wire coming out of the light. It should read 0 volts. Anything higher will indicate a bad ground. This is of course with the lights on.

Had the same problem on my Concept a couple years ago. Took me three days to figure out some corrosion had developed inside the molded plastic of the pigtail connector causing a limited ground connection. Replaced the pigtail (about $10 I think) and all is good.

Dang hate to hear that.

we had a similar issue and ended up being bad ground and a bad bulb.
Started by removing tail light assembly cleaned every wire connector and bulb sockets by sanding and cleaning then applied a dab of dielectric silicone grease and replaced all the bulbs while I was there.

Are all your other lights functioning OK? Clearance and side markers?
All turn signals?

And I guess this is without the toad plugged in? Could be in tow wiring as well

If you can, take a good look at the lens assembly itself. I have seen the reflector (mirror) in the lens de-grade to the point that it just does not reflect the light out very well, making the light look dim. Older sealed beam headlights are terrible for this. Just a thought.

Hi folks, I finally got this issue resolved, I didn’t solve it the folks at Oregon Motorcoach in Eugene did.
The actual lens itself was fried ,as in melted. I’m not sure if this effected the grd

but they installed new lens and it’s fine. We installed both so that they match,it looks great now !
