Seat massage controls

I do not know how many folks country coach have massage captain chairs, but I suspect many. Mine still work fine, but the coiled portion of the control cable had deteriorated to the point that many bare wires, rubber bits and electrical repair tape from previous attempts were just ugly, messy , tangled etc. The outer coil sheath was just gone. So, I decided to look into correction. The coil cable is seven conductor, but after looking inside, I discovered only six wires were in use. This is lucky because finding seven conductor coiled cable was impossible except at great cost. Anyway, i was able to locate a six conductor replacement coiled microphone cable on Amazon, 10 bucks each. Strain relief for the control end is already molded in. Length was perfect at about 2 feet coiled and maybe 6 extended.

Now, this is not a simple repair because it will involve some fine precision soldering, but I rebuilt the first one yesterday and testing showed all is working perfectly. Visual appearance vastly improved. The connector inside the control is plug in, and this is where care is required. But heat shrink will keep all neat and orderly after the soldering is done. Should have done this years ago. Will do driver side tomorrow.

Replacement MIC CORD - 6 wire - 10 Ft Coiled - CB / Ham Radio - Workman MIL10

Brand: Workman

Our coil cords failed (fell apart) a few years ago and I replaced them with straight cords. That all worked great for a couple of years. Then one seat and then later the other seat electronics totally failed. It looks like a bunch of work to get into the seat to replace the entire controller. I sure do miss it on those 400+ mile days.
