silver leaf knob failure
The outlined knob has failed. It no longer snaps in and out. the rotation feature works. Is this a common problem? Is it known where the component can be found for replacement? Or, some other solution?
Thanks

Go to the Mother Ship of Knowledge!!! (Super nice people to work with!)
Try to have as much info as possible. Model and Serial (Sometimes those were included on the Vanity Mirror info...).

Well, I'll be dipped. After all these years, I just now found out that the knob does have a function other than rotate. What does pushing the knob in get you?

Tribute, Inspire, Allure, Intrigue - Twisting the knob, allows you to highlight an item. Pushing the knob Selects the item you highlighted.
Magna, Affinity - Pushing the knob opens a dash door, and a cup of expresso is presented. (Would have said Scotch - but not a good thing to joke about when driving!)...

After thinking about it for awhile, I remembered what the knob does. Don't think Silverleaf still carries that unit let alone having spare parts. I did see that unit on a shelf in Northwest RV Surplus a few years back. Ii kept it mounted along with my glass dash

Got the answer!! I pulled the knob off and found the hole depth in the knob was greater than the length of the shaft coming out from the face of the Silverleaf. The shaft without the knob works fine. I put a small piece of rubber (O ring cut in two) down in the hole to make it shallower and that cured it. I didn't have to call the mother ship!!
My dilemma was that I couldn't start or stop the Generator. I did get it started that cold morning in the Wally Parking lot but I couldn't push the button in enough to turn it off. I ended up rolling out the generator slide to get to the OFF switch on the Generator itself.

Hah! A simple mechanical solution is always the best - especially when you solve it!!
Nonetheless, SL, is a good company to call when in need of help!
And X'2 Don's input that NWRV Supply - often has lots of unique 'goodies'...
