STEP COVER on a 2003 CC is in-operative

A 2003 Intrigue Ovation's step motor works, but it hangs up quickly. Getting the cover back into it's berth takes effort, too.

Has somebody addressed a fix for this? Do we know what make/model in order to know if it's a track, or cables, or whatnot?

Are the manufactures still in business?

Probably needs some lube. This will require getting under the coach

Hmmm, current owner sounds elderly, but can't imagine he's had it to AZ and back to MI and never had it looked at, or lubed it himself. I'm old, too, but couldn't possibly put up with something that basic.

Do you know what brand the step cover is?

My step cover mechanism extends into the front driver side basement compartment.

It at times will not activate.

A tap with a hammer near the limit switch gets it going again.

Occasional lubing of the track under the cover inside the rig helps too.

stepcover motor replacement

OEM Bryon Knudtson 541 998 8456 $230. Be sure to check your switch, may be a 10 amp which easily fails, needs 20 amp

Thanks, John. Since the OP, I got an American Eagle with a pneumatic step cover. Man, you need to have arms, legs and loved ones out of the way when you flip that switch! Only word similar is, "guillotine".

bamaboy473, Just curious, why did you give up your 2003 Country Coach for a 2003 American Eagle?

Yup. When looking at coaches we looked at the Eagle. That step cover slammed shut, scared the heck out of me
