Tach only works when it raining

From what I understand the tach gets its reading from the Alternator...correct? I haven't cleaned the terminals for starters. Would there be other issues or places where the tach gets it's readings from?

98 CC Intrigue

Thanks

Your tach is mostly likely getting its signal from the alternator, as noted in your previous thread on this issue and also here. Does your Silverleaf tell you RPMs even when your tach isn't working? If so, that might suggest the tach is at fault, or connections to it, such as the ground.

I can only speak assuming your coach is set up the same as mine. I have a 1990 CC Concept with a Leece-Neville alternator. If yours is like mine, which is a common design, the tachometer gets its signal from one of the three AC (not DC) posts on the alternator. It doesn’t matter which of the three it’s connected to. If the tachometer fails or is intermittent it is most likely a sign of an alternator failure. When the tach fails check to see if the chassis voltage drops as well as a result of the alternator not charging.
