Tire PSI

I have Michelin XZE 12R22.5 tires all around.

What pressure should I run?

Thanks!

Look in near the drivers seat for a placard stating tire size, recommended PSI for that size tire and axle loading info.

You don't need max air listed on the sidewall in all cases.

There are two ways to determine tire pressure.
1. As twinboat mentioned. That should be the pressure for the maximum weight the RV should legally carry.

2. Take the RV to a truck scale, I used Pilot, and weigh the coach. Once you get the weight on each axle, you can go to the tire manufacturer web site and find a pressure that matches the weight.

In my coach case, the tire pressure either as calculated, or on the sticker behind the seat matched.

Get your coach weighed, each axle and total weight.
Go to Michelin's web site they have a chart based on tire model and size that will give you their recommended pressure.

Get you tire's inflation / load chart from the link below and weigh each axle end separately and using the heaviest end weight to determine the axle's cold inflation tire pressure. For control of your RV, make sure tire pressures are the same across an axle, while NEVER exceeding the maximum air pressure limit stamped on the wheels.

On the sticker on the wall under the driver side window, it should print something like 120 psi on the front and 110 psi on the rear duallies, based on the CC's anticipation that how much the weight could be with the full load when you travel.

John,
I had Henderson’s Line Up do a road performance assessment a few years back. I’m running Hankook 12R22.5 tires. Here are my weights and recommended pressure’s for my tires.

LF 5400
RF 5300
LR 10900
RR 10300

Recommended tire pressure
Front 90 psi
Rear 90 psi

I run 100 psi front and rear.

Bill

You should be aware that Country Coach sent me a new tire inflation label and 6 new tires when the coach was in its eighth year.

This occurred due to a recall and their error. So the label you have may not be gospel......

This is exactly the answer; finding out the weight at each corner (such as via Escapees' SmartWeigh) would be even better. The max pressure listed on the tire will most likely be much too high for your rig and will result in an overly harsh ride. The pressures listed by CC on the sticker near your driving position was based on the original tires CC put on the coach when it was manufactured and assumes maximum weight -- neither of which probably apply to you now. Find out your actual weights and then view Michelin's chart for your specific model of their tire and then lastly add a small safety cushion. For our coach with its Toyo M170 tires and our particular weight, and with adding the safety cushion I feel comfortable with, I run 90 PSI (cold inflation) front and rear.

Here's a good recent article by a tire expert. Roger has many more postings along this line on his website and he often posts about RV tire inflation and other RV tire safety issues on RVTravel.com and here on iRV2 (he's Tireman9).

The sticker inside is actually a DOT requirement. It must list the MINIMUM pressure in the OEM-installed tires to fully support the GAWR (gross axle weight rating) of each axle.

Should be a plate in the coach, mine is on left side of drivers seat, that gives that info.

My '08 Allure is 110 on steer tires, 105 on drive tires and 85 on tag.

Was glad to see the recommendations on obtaining Four Corner weights for a specific coach, and accessing the specific tire Manufacture's Load/Weight PSI chart.

IMO, tire safety is one of the least understood, and yet one of the most important variable - to RV Ownership.
