I am looking into replacing my aged out Toyo tires. The current tires are 12r 22.5 requires 9” rims which seems an over kill for my 32 ft coach with 8.25” rims . The tire place recommends 11r 22.5 which are not as tall and will affect my speedometer but would be a lot easier to find if needed on the road. Is there a better choice of toyo tire possibly a metric size? It did come with 12r 22.5 from country coach but it’s wet weight is 27000 lbs. I suspect CC used 12r 22.5 on all their motorhomes in 2002 which seems like a lot of tire for my smaller coach.

12r's were OEM on our coach, with 8.25" rims. We changed to 295/80's, so we coud get Michelin XZA2's, which we like. You should have no problem finding 12R's for your rims, Michelin XZE's and BF Goodrich ST230's have been on our rims.

my 97 model 32' Allure came with 10Rs and I believe there was a recall on the front tires to be replaced with 275/80s. We just replaced them last month and went with Michelin XZE2s 275/80 on the rear and
275/80s Michelin Energy X on the front (rated as a steer tire).
Plenty of tire for us and we weigh in about 28,000lbs fully loaded. About 2000lbs more drive axle load capacity than the Toyo 10Rs, not sure about your 12Rs.
Also they are "almost" identical in dimensions.

I RUN A 255/80/22.5 UP FROM (235/80/22.5) AND THEY ARE HARD TO FIND. ALSO HAVE TO HAVE THE STEER STRAIGHT TO DUMP AIR.
ALSO, A STEER DESIGN TIRE WILL NOT HANDLE THE TOURQUE A DRIVE AXEL PUTS OUT.

Lots of MH's use steer tires on the drive axle. My 315/80's handle my ISX 650 with 1950 ft lbs just fine. Last set of tires lasted 9 years and 48,000 miles and still looked great both inside and out!

thanks for clarfing that, goodyear and michelin both must have give me the wrong info.

Ever hear of "all postion" & "steering postion" & "trailer" ?

Major tire comp have a lot of info on that.

Thanks for the input guys. Looks like the 295/80 will be off 2 mph on my speedometer and the 295/75 will be 4 mph. I’ll dig a little deeper and check cost also either of these should be more then enough load limit for me. The more I know the better when talking to the tire shop. I think the common sizes make a lot of sense when you don’t have a spare.
