Add fuses to the output wires and should never have a problem. CC way overthinking the issue with a tow board.

Are fuses required if diodes are utilized?

A diode only lets current flow one way to prevent back feeding. You would put fuse between wiring on toad and motor home as option, as motor home is already fused. I pulled tail lamp assembly on Grand Cherokee and drilled small hole for 3 wires and glued bulb and socket in assembly. Wiring goes from new bulbs to connector in bumper. No Diodes are needed since I am not using any wiring on toad. I did put fuse block where the tow board was in Motor home just in case something shorted on toad or connection.

That makes sense if not using toad wiring
On our toad we installed a Mopar oem wire harness that has diodes
We still have a functional tow board
If board failed I was thinking just jumping input to output wires via a fuse for each signal

Just a thought
Greg

Toad taillights

Our Toad taillights are wired separately from the vehicle taillights and we had a problem with the passenger side taillight wasn't working. When I was investigating the possible cause found that the bulb that was wired separately from the original taillights on that taillight burned out, due to water intrusion. Replaced the bulb and did a proper job of waterproofing the hole that was drilled in the taillight to install the bulb. It was a simple fix after checking the board and all fuses. Hopefully yours will turn out as simple.

For what it’s worth. I had a similar situation a month ago. Same symptoms on my 04 intrigue. After 5 hours the repair shop found a 2 amp fuse up under the dash that repaired the problem. Didn’t even know that fuse existed

The tech said it was under the dash above steering wheel and was a small inline 2 amp fuse. Didn’t say what wire though
