Transfer Switch Issue?
Trying to dry camp. Checked recently and it worked fine. Now, no. Start generator but system doesn't connect to it. Acts like transfer switch. Was fine when checked a week ago.
Is there some fuse in the system other than the circuit breaker on the generator?
Is there a way to "bump" that transfer switch to persuade it to work?
Other trouble shooting suggestions?
Thanks!

Most transfer switches default to generator.
Did you flip the generator breaker Off then ON.

I have the same issue I think. The genny starts up fine but the A/C won't start.

Double check the generator breakers are reset by flipping them completely OFF, then ON.
If no change, open the ATS and see if all wires are snugly connected. Start the generator and observe what’s happening. Use a voltmeter and measure the voltage at the generator input lugs of the ATS. If there is correct voltage at both lines, the problem is the ATS contactor.
I cannot recommend hitting anything, but a I think others have done so. You can always wire the generator directly to the output wires, by-passing the ATS to get temporary gen power while boondocking, but you will have no shore power.

What Larry is referring to is tapping the transfer switch with a rubber mallet to cause the contacts to open. Sometimes transfer switches get burned contacts from being switched under full electrical load, like switching from generator to shore power with AC's and such still drawing significant amps.
The "tap" can cause to the contacts to release, but the bottom line is that if the ATS contacts are burned or pitted, and new ATS is in your future.

Had the same problem. Generator ran fine and had good voltage into the transfer switch but it wouldn't switch over. I had to replace the transfer switch.

Same problem. Generator running, no power to coach so I gave the switch a little "love tap" and it killed the generator. Replace the transfer switch and all fine

Gave the tranfer switch housing a little "love tap" and it switched over. Will see if the problem continues. The usage of that switch is very low, maybe just a bit stcky. Otherwise, new transfer switch. If so, where is the best place to order one? I can do the change if I have the identical part.

Transfer switchs do not default to generator. They sit ( default ) open or in shore power position.
Generator is PRIORITY, but only if it senses power from the generator. Only then does it run down a 30 to 45 second time delay while the generator power stabilizes.

I had a similar problem and thought it was t he transfer switch so I ordered a new one. Then I found out on this forum that there is a breaker right on the generator that I looked for but did not find. I found it, switched it on and now all is well and I have a transfer switch for sale, brand new, never used.

Mine was replaced with a WFCO Mod WF-T57. I didn't change it myself because my arm isn't long enough to reach in behind the breaker panel. Don't know if the WFCO is "the best" or not but I haven't had any problems with it since replacement a number of years ago

We had an annoying buzzing sound so swapped out to an ESCO LPT50BRD DC relay coils to more humming. Quiet as the library now
