Urgent Assistance Request: Electric dining room slide won't retract
Folks our dining room slide won't retract. I hear a relay clicking when i push the switch to the extend position, but hear nothing when i push it to retract.
Google search indicates a likely problem with the switch. Which will have to be procured.
How do i go about manually retracting the slide. There is a winch in the coach and see eye bolts which i presume are there to link the cables to an opposing eye bolt. Are there other steps that i must take prior to cranking on the winch. I don't want to make matters worse.

If not too late, on our 04 Allure, with Power Gear Electric Slides, we had a problem for awhile where we'd have to 'fool around' with the rear switch/slide, in order to get the front switch/slide to activate.
Admit I never found the root cause. But I did get into both switches, unconnected and cleaned connections then reconnected. Have not had problem since.
So you might go try moving the Bedroom slide in/out a bit, and see if that might not 'goose' the front switch/slide into activity...
Best of luck to you,
Smitty

How did you make out? I've never used the manual cranks and hope I never have to.
I think that is something that would really bother me if the slides ever decide not to come in....! There have been times when the HWH decides the unit is out of level and needs to "rethink" a little and it works again but have never had a serious "not working" issue with the slides. I hope I never do. Curious how you made out?

Sorry for the tardy response. I was able to retract the slide by using a very big crescent wrench and rotating the square tubing that comes our of the motor/gearbox assembly. Instructions were clear, disconnect wires to motor, manually release the brake on the motor.
I believe the problem lies in the wiring loom that is connected to the board. In the course of handling the wire bundle to disconnect the motor, two wires came loose from the connector, one looks to have been stripped short, and not inserted fully. I haven't had time to deal with it, and have been extending and retracting the slide manually.
I intend to get the coach in for maintenance in a month or so and will procure a new switch for the control panel, and possibly a new wire harness if the company is still viable.

I also had trouble with electric slide; the switch would click and no movement on slide. Ended up the motor was bad and I replaced with a new slide motor.
Hopefully re-terminating the wires will resolve the issue. If there are no signs of overheating on the back of the switch or the connectors down below I suspect they are not the problem - loose wires/bad switch "usually" present themselves as high resistance and possible overheating.
Hope this helps,
Brian

Success! Found that the switch had been fitted with a 14 gauge terminal but the wire is 22 gauge, it had pulled out. I initially suspected the motor and just moved the slide in manually, in the course of doing so i pulled the wires from the motor. That revealed that the red wire was inadequately connected and the wire pulled out of the connector. So I ordered a new wiring loom, installed it, replaced the terminal in the switch and lubricated the rack.
The slide now operates more smoothly than before.
