Water pump issue

When fresh water pump is turned on it is VERY hard to turn off. Must position the momentary switch just right in neutral position to get pump to shut down.

Same problem weather turning pump on in bath or living room (although much harder in bathroom).

Does or did Country Coach use a pump controller? If so, where is it located? I just watched a YouTube video by AZExpert showing the installation of a pump controller in his Beaver Patriot. It controls the pumps by interrupting the ground to the pump.

Has anyone else had this issue?

I'm subbing to 2nd this question. I saw the AZExpert's YT video also and when he said only one company installed a fresh water pump controller (and they were in OR) - I assumed it was CC.

I don't know where it is located - I was thinking of looking at the plumbing schematic to see if I can find it.

Pump controllers are common in rigs that have multiple switches. They are basically a momentary input changes the state from on to off. They do go bad.

Most likely a latching relay like Dennis references. First place I would look is behind your control panel above the door

I would expect the "controller" to be just be a simple DPDT latching relay located somewhere between fuse panel and the pump. If the pump is in a potentially wet location then closer to the fuse panel. Otherwise I'd expect it would be close to the pump. The relay might have six or eight exposed contacts, like spade connectors. Four wires like 14/12 ga and two smaller wires like 16/18ga. The smaller wires would go to each switch.

I think it is a latching relay. If anyone ever finds exactly where it's located in early 2000s Magnas or Affinitye please let me know.

Thanks for the replies. I will remove the panel above the doorway and begin my search for the latching relay.

Thanks for all the responses. I will post what I find.

Today's update

Here is what I came up with: There is a printed circuit board, that I assume was a CC latching relay of some sort. Odd thing to me is, it does not show up on the wiring diagram I have in the owners/chassis manual.

I THINK I could replace it with one of the store bought controllers your fellows posted up off Amazon, but I really am guessing at the wiring.

The controllers have a 12 volt supply, ground 12 volt suppling the pump and input from switches. I am not positive I know how to re-wire from CC board to Store bought relay/controller.

If you can provide insight for the procedure, it would be GREATLY appreciated.

This are the pictures and diagram I have to go off of.Click image for larger version

The one shown in post #3 shows how to wire it when you look at it on Amazon.
Wire 164 is the hot wire and #177 goes to the water pump according to your wiring diagram. The two that say switch 1 and switch 2 are from the switches. Hope this helps.

Did you find that board above the entry door behind the panel?

Wouldn’t it be simpler to just control the pump thru one switch, thus eliminating the need for an obsolete control board? Just my $.02c

Help me understand the need to have multiple water pump switches in the first place….maybe I’m missing something.

On both of the ones I had, they had two switches, one in the control panel and one in the wet bay. It was nice to have the one in the wet bay in order to turn it on off as I was working on the plumbing on the outside and of course it would be quite unhandy to have to go out there in order to turn it on and off in the middle of the night.

Yes, where all the holding tank monitors, water heater and generator controls and Furnace controls are located.
