What does this switch do?

Have this switch in my front bay under driver. Don't know what its for it seems to have 3 positions not sure. Might have something to do with ABS but cant find any info in manuals. Please look at picture and see if you recognize. Have just gotten all four air bags replaced as well as the air governor. Had all slack adjusters adjusted and the brakes feel better. Tested the low air warning and none worked so replacing the LP air switches hope that works. Please look at the attached whatisit file. Country Coach 1999 Allure 36 #30406

If the switch is just hanging loose than I would think it could be anything. Most likely added by a previous owner. You may end up having to physically/electronically "tracing" the wires.

The switch could be for operating the generator slide. Some CC models use pneumatics to move the generator slide in and out. Release the generator slide latch and then operate the toggle in your photo to see if it does anything.

Regarding the low air warning: Is there any scenario where the warning tone comes on? For example, when you turn the ignition key one click to the on position without starting the engine you should get the same tone due to the low oil pressure since the engine is not running. Many owners have disconnected the little warning horn speaker because it can be loud. Of course, it’s loud for a reason as it is meant to warn of a serious impending problem. Make sure the little speaker is working before replacing LP switches, etc. mine is very loud so I put a piece of electrical tape on it to mute it somewhat and it’s still plenty loud enough to be annoying.

I believe you are right, ABS. The plastic threads broke off, same as mine. If you can read any wire numbers, post them and I'll look it up.

My rig has a switch like that under the driver side dash at the right console.

It is to control the burglar alarm and its motion detector feature on my rig.

This is from the Country Coach Owners forum on how to reset the ABS computer.

Yes, hold the switch in either the up position or down position ( I don't remember) for 3 seconds. You will get the reset 8 flashes and then sets of 2 flashes to show you that it reset. If the fault doesn't clear, then it will reappear.

Hope this helps.

I have that switch in my front bay as well but it is connected to the "ABS" controller. Like someone else said if its loose and hanging then its an add-on for something else as CC would not mount something like that.

If it is the ABS switch then the post by TR4 is correct on the reset.

Thanks all have traced the wires back to the ABS. The switch has power so reset it. ABS light not lighting up when key is turned on. So on to next step.

If you had to adjust the slack adjusters then they are not working. You should replace them.

If the automatic slack adjusters aren't working or adjusting correctly 90% of the time it is the s cam bushings. If the s cam and s cam bushings are worn it won't allow the slack adjusters to operate correctly.

Who said anything about having problems with the slack adjusters? OP said he had them adjusted. The switch shown has nothing to do with slack adjusters, it is a method to read fault codes on the ABS system

The OP listed the slack adjusters at the beginning of this thread as one of the items he addressed so he was referring to that part of the thread.
