Xantrex power save mode ??

Have a xantrex 2000. 2008 Allure. Accidentally put the inverter in power save mode rather than hibernate. The book says the Xantrex will wake up if gen is started or if it is plugged into shore. Neither happened. Gen would not start at all. Book also says if in power save for more than 2 or three h ours , will revert to hibernate. Well,I let it go overnight and next day the gen started normally, but the inverter never went live. Finally had to go in the basement and push reset on the Xantrex and all is back to normal. Any thought on the value of power save and why it did not behave as outlined in the manual? Pushing reset down below seems like a serious and last resort sort of step

I have the Xantrex RS2000, which BTW is obsolete-no parts or support. Many times I have had to go outside to push the red reset button to correct something it was not performing correctly, usually not switching to bulk charge when necessary. Do not hesitate to use the button on the Xantrex unit itself, the remote unit does not have the same manual reset even though it too has a red button. You might have the MS2000 which has minor differences, but performs the same operations.
When I phoned Xantrex tech support, the man I spoke with had little knowledge of this model due to obsolete status.

Thanks for the reply. Did not know rs 2000 is obsolete. My original post was more of an inquiry about the value of power save mode. Seems stupid. The red button referenced on the control panel will put the unit into power save. Then it never comes back out of power save unless you reset I never the basement. The manual states power save should come alive agin if gen set is started or shore power is provided. Frankly , if you have shore, why do you need the inverter to wake up, except for the internal transfer switch? So what good is power save! Just use hibernate which I have always done up until now, when I made a mistake .
