2000 Jayco Eagle doesn't start

24-foot Eagle with the Ford E350 V10. Not too long ago it became a bit reluctant to start, but only when the motor was cold. It fired right up like normal some of the time. Now, 1-2 months later, it doesn't want to fire up at all 95% of the time and requires a few sprays of starter fluid. Wondering what all I should check.

The only things I can think of to note: The plastic locking gas cap has a slight issue, one of the part(s) that seal and lock it in place fell out and went missing. So the gas cap can't lock currently, and seems like it doesnt seal 100% because it can be opened just by prying it off a certain way, without twisting it at all. wondering if moisture got in the gas/gas tank because of this, and if that is the problem...

The other thing is this Ford v10 has a modified, or cold air, intake. I don't think this is how it came from Jayco? There is a pretty big opening in the middle of the tubular air box, and a K&N style clamp-on air filter is right there. Seems like debris and maybe water could get to this filter element way too easy...it doesnt look that dirty though...
Could some debris/moisture/etc getting on the MAF sensor cause a starting issue ?

if you search the internet (Hard starting V10) you'll get a lot of hits...here's a link to one...the responses are guessing fuel pump- lack of fuel pump pressure...hth
