Driving home after picking up new coach, I noticed that although it tracks fairly straight, that the steering wheel was about 30 degrees off center to the right. Dealer told me to take it to a Ford Truck store. I live about 300 miles from dealer so away I go, phone in hand to seek a solution.
Many calls latter I finally find an independent front end shop that can fix it. I drive over 3 hours to the garage to learn that they cannot align the front end because the king pins are bad, you could actually wiggle the front wheel when jacked up.This coach is new, with about 1,500 miles. They claim it was built incorrectly.
Finally found a Ford truck store to analyze it. They replaced kingpins, because bearings where in upside down and full of water.
I can't understand how a coach can be driven from Middlebury, IN, to Tampa, FL and from Tampa FL to Orlando without someone noticing this defect?
Complained to JAYCO's, Jack Frey, who told me my problem was FORD'S problem. He also informed me that no one at the factory ever test drives these coach's.
Bottom line, someone on the F53 chassis assembly line made a huge error and no one is accountable for quality control at FORD or JAYCO, nor did anyone seem to care.
This is my second Class A that I have owned on a F53 chassis and I am not the least bit impressed or amused with this slip shod approach.
It is not OK or normal for the steering wheel to be off center!
I am surprised this wasn't blamed on COIVID!
at this point, I am out countless hours of aggravation and hundreds of dollars in gas, rental, cars, and overnight expenses.
All avoidable if somewhere, there was accountability and quality control!
