5th Wheel Furnace Issue

Jayco 2017 Pinnacle MDQS

Furnace does not work.. Thermostat has 12v present. The thermostat AC functions work. When placing thermostat in HEAT mode, the word HEAT flashes a couple of times then light goes out and furnace does not start.

Furnace exhaust on “water cabinet” side.
Furnace cold air return on “entrance steps side” and in the riser of the second inside step.

Left side wall of water cabinet has a one foot by 18” access panel. Removing this panel gives access to house water filter and you can see more further into the basement area. I assume this is where you gain access to furnace or not. The distance from this panel to furnace exhaust is 29 inches.

Not sure how you get to the furnace parts to determine which part (relay, blower, sail switch, high level switch, gas valve, ignitor, ignition module) is defective.

Is there another furnace access?

Help….

Gas furnaces are accessed from the outside of the RV. From the pics I could find of your model, it looks like yours is behind the cover plate that has two vent looking holes with a chromed plate covering that section of the furnace. Looks like it's right above the water heater access panel.

Depends on model and build by Jayco, but generally, first remove the screws from the chrome plated vent tubes, pull them out, then remove the black metal cover. That will give you access to the sail switch, and a view of the hot box and other parts. Then there are usually a couple screws holding the furnace in place. Gas off, disconnect gas supply, thermostat and power wire bundle, and slide the furnace out of the cubby hole. There may be a fuse on the control board.

There is a lot of goop sealing various cover parts and takes some tugging and prying to get those covers off.

Here's a picture of what they look like after the covers are off and here's a link to my ad free blog article that may help...Furnace:

Jim,

My trailer only has the furnace exhaust on outside wall. The exhaust is located 29 inches to the right of the water cabinet. Right beside the hot water tank.

When you post a reply, click on advanced, or click on the paperclip icon at the top of the dialog box just right of the smiley face icon.
