5th wheel towing question

Does anyone have experience with using a Lippert turning point 5th wheel pin? We just bought a Ram short box and during our Jayco RV demo, it was suggested that we may want to consider buying a wedge and using the Lippert secondary pivot point to improve turning radius for towing. We are newbies to 5th wheel towing so before simply making this change, we were hoping for input from experienced 5th wheelers. Do we need this product and if so, what are the pros and cons? Thanks

Either that type where pivot point is moved back
*Reese has a 'Sidewinder' pin box---same concept/move pivot point rearward

OR a sliding 5th wheel hitch
OR Anderson hitch set up in rearward position (moves hitch ball backwards)

Otherwsie good chance of whacking back window when manuvering

Thanks very much for the input. We will look into options to hopefully eliminate a back window crash. Towed small trailers and drove a motor home for years so this 5th wheel setup is a new ball of wax…

The Turning Point defeats the purpose of the 5th wheel by pushing the pivot point back behind the axle. You are better off leaving it as a fixed hitch and getting a slider B&W Companion hitch.

By pushing the pivot point back, you are essentially towing much like a bumper pull without the sway control. You can expect some sway like you get with a bumper pull.
