Any handling problems with the Alante?

We are looking at a Jayco Alante 31. Have heard of handling problems with older Jayco Class A. Understand the new Precept has been upgraded to 22 tires from 16.5 with a new stabilizers. Has the Alante been ugraded also?

Problems, no. Just the usually stuff for a class A on the Ford F53 chassis: Rough ride, lots of sway in curves, pushed around in your lane by wind gusts and semi trucks passing by.

The Alante line has 19.5" wheels, not the larger 22" ones on the Precepts. Correct air pressure and the CHF is a great start to correct the handling. We did both prior to our 5300 mile trip last month and it made a huge difference. I now have an RM steering stabilizer to install to help with the pushing in the lane.

I have the Alante 26AY, and the road trip back from the PDi was a white knuckle one, as the last poster stated, pushed all over the place by trucks plus a lot of top sway with the tail wagging the dog.
I have done the CHF, as well as installed both the KONI shocks and RM stabilizer. Also added a trac bar to the rear, all of this made a huge difference, it now handles like it should. Still playing with the tire pressure.
Don't believe Jayco's 'J-Ride' hype, as delivered it still handles like a F53, crappy. I downsized from a workhorse chassis as we want to do more boondocking and I was expecting more, but now it does very well with or without the toad. We now love the coach, just the right size for us with huge tanks. Good luck.
