Caterpillar C7 ECM/DTC Codes

Does anyone know if/how to retrieve the CAT ECM/DTC codes from the dash.

I have an intermittent code being thrown, usually within 1 or 2 minutes after startup. I can shut down & restart and the CEL will clear. Sometimes it takes 2 restarts, but once it clears, it won't happen again. Kind of has me stumped?? There doesn't appear to be any adverse effects (ie rough engine, idle etc.) Have good oil pressure, voltage, temp ok etc.

I have a code puller device for automotive ECM systems, but think the CAT ECM is proprietary and not standardized with the auto industry. I'm hoping there's a dash retrieval sequence????
