Howdy,

I am here in Pomona at the FMCA convention and runnning on generator and invertor. First problem is that I didn't realize the generator would shut down with fuel still available. I have just over a quarter of a tank registering and figured with 37.5 gal I had plenty. I have now learned that the generator will shut down before the fuel is used up...but the instructions do not say at what level. Does anyone know for sure how low the fuel has to be before the generator shuts down?? Also even when I charge the batteries for a couple of hours and they show comletely charged, the monitor indicates that the batteries are only 'F' (1/2) after only a couple minutes use on the computer. Is this really an indication that the batteries are bad or ??

Thanks, WALT

Walt, i sent you an Email, but had some more thoughts. Are you using the voltmeter on the inverter display? Or the one on the tank monitors? They are not the best or most reliable. Also, are you sure you have enough (distilled) water in the batts to cover the cells? An S. G. meter would be needed to really check the condition of those batteries. Also, they might be in need of equalizing. Do a search on this forum for that keyword and it should bring up some procedures to equalize.

Walt: Most fuel pick-up tubes are set to prevent generator use below one quarter tank. This will vary some but that's what they aim for.
I've also had the generator fuel filter plug on me when I got contaminated fuel. That is rare if you service the generator properly.
Best regards..
