Jayco Norcold regrigerator

I have a 2018 Jayco Precept with a Norcold model1210T refrigerator.
From the first time we used it the cooling fans have always run. Even when the ambient temperature is 40 degrees outside the fans run continuously.
I called Norcold and they said the fans should only run when the outside temperature is in the 80’s or higher.
I took it back to the dealer and the said they could not find anything wrong with it.

If you have this model refrigerator and RV -does the fans on your unit run all the time when the refrigerator is on or only when the outside temperature is high.

What did the dealer say, when you told them Norcold says the fans should come on when temp reaches 80??

My personal opinion, the fans should operatate when the fridge is on, regardless of temp outside

I think the power saved by only running the fan when needed for dry camping or boondocking would be a big advantage. I have a Dometic refrigerator, not a Norcold. Mine does not have a fan, but one modification recommended by other users is to add one with a temperature activated switch. The fan is only needed when the refrigerator is struggling against high ambient temperatures.

Norcold exterior fans are thermostat controlled.
Thermostat is attached to far right condenser fin (top of fridge)
Thermostat Closes when FIN temp reaches 130*F (FIN TEMP---not ambient air temp)
Thermostat Opens when FIN temp drops below 115*F

No need for fans to run continuously...they only need to run and enhance draft (airflow) when the condenser gets hot.

See pg 48 of the Norcold 1210 SERVICE MANUAL
http://rvrefrigeratorrepair.com/wp-c...d-Service-1210

Fans running continuously is either due to condenser staying HOT (ventilation obstruction etc) OR thermostat is stuck closed

Took the RV back to the dealer and they agreed that the sensor was bad and needed to be replaced. They submitted the Warranty claim to Jayco and they approved it. But now it is going to take till Jan 15th to get the part. We are leaving for Florida on the 9th and won't be back till the end of Feb. So will have to wait till then to get the problem fixed. Oh well, at least it will be repaired.

2016 Precept 35S My fan seems to work fine but I have an excessive build up of ice in the freezers and water freezes in the condensate pan in the fridge area. I finally discovered a plug in the drain hose outside in the compartment but the hose drains into a very small pan and when it fills with water, the inside pan can't drain down the hose anymore.

Am I missing something else?

Excessive ice in freezer.....door seals
Water in drip pan freezing.....temp setting or thermistor issue

Drip pan drain...
Plug in end of drain hose should have slots/openings that let water OUT and keep bugs from getting IN
Drain hose into small drain cup.....should be close to burner and heat is suppose to help evaporate the collected water.
Water should still drain down from drip pan thru hose and cause it to overflow IF not frozen or hose clogged.
