Jayco Precept 31 ul batteries

greetings,
may not be just a precept thing so any help is appreciated.
recently some $%^&% stole the house batteries from our coach.
I know which batteries to buy but no 100% sure on how they were hooked up.
I sent a question to Jayco which has gone unanswered.
There were (2) batteries and what I am left with is (2) negative and (2) positive wires.
I do not know if these batteries were tied together or if they are separate and one battery has its function and the other a separate function. If there was a jumper wire or wires, the $%^%$ took those with them.

I am hoping the inverter has not been harmed by this theft. i would hope not as the load should have been disconnected as the battery switch was off.

any help on this hook up would be appreciated.

Many Thanks

You want to keep all positives together, and the same with the grounds......do not hook positive to neg between the two batteries, or you'll end up with 24 volts and the smoke genie will appear.....there is a proper way, to run the cables to batteries even with all the pos and negs hooked up.....no way here to draw a pic....might be a draw'n if you use the search function on forum

Jayco precept 31ul batteries take 2

Replaced batteries. Assume correct. Negative and positive correct on both batteries. Neg and pos on left side of compartment to left battery and so on for right. Turned off all breakers first and battery switch was off.

After replacement turned breakers back on. Main battery disconnect switch does not work and gfi breaker will not reset. Got a feeling something happened to inverter when ##$% stoke the batteries.

Anyone know where the inverter lives in this coach ?? I’ve looked everywhere except in the heater. Book doesn’t say. Could it be under bed ? Doesn’t seem like a place where there is good airflow.

Thanks

It is extremely likely that the idiots that stole your batteries short circuited the electrical system or put positive on the negative side of the inverter. (Stupid me I did that on a previous coach and fried the inverter.) The battery disconnect switch is actually a relay and that too could have been damaged in the process. If you have full coverage insurance this type of thing is likely covered.

I have a 2015 Precept 31UL and this is the battery hookup I got from Jayco.
The 2nd page shows the battery hookup. Hope this helps!
The inverter is under the bed.
