I had a '04 crew that got 13-14 when pulling a 5K boat. So I would guess an RV will be similar, maybe a bit less if it's more weight and a higher profile.

What's he getting?
What are you getting? My WH 8.1 gets 9.5-10.5 as long as I keep it under 65, and without anything in tow - drops from there.

This is my second MH. I don't knew what the first one got nor do I know what this one gets. If I knew I'd just get depressed and there nothing I'm going to do about it any way. I suppose if I were to make some engine mods I'd get a before and after.

BTW, by '06 they were using the updated heads, injectors and tune from '02-04. The early ones must have cost GM/Bosche a small fortune because they all had to have their injectors replaced - warranty extended to 7yr 200K like a recall.

I ran a Hypertune in stage 3 on mine when not towing, stage two with a tow, and it got really good mileage empty - up to 22-23mpg on the hwy. By '08 they were using that state of tune, '06 was mid - it shows up in the torque output.

There were plenty of guys on the duramax forums that were putting 300-500K miles on them without major work. The allison trans is a good one, will hold up to about 900ft pounds before it blows.

More power and fuel economy can be coaxed out of them by throwing money at parts - exhaust, CAI, and a chipped ecu. They're very durable.
