Problem with Toad

We have new-to-us 2019 Precept 34G towing 2018 F150. We have Invisibrake and Blue Ox towing hardware. We purchased them in Dallas area , had the Invisibrake and Blue Ox hardware installed at National Indoor RV in Lewisville. Towed F150 back home to SoCal with no problem, then towed to MN with no problem---until the last day. At some point on the last day, the fuse in the F150 battery charge line blew, causing the battery to die.

Due to that, we are unable to tow because when I put new fuses in the charge line, as soon as I start the Precept that fuse blows. Today I plan to start at the pigtail connection on the Precept and see if I can find the source of a current in-rush that would blow that fuse.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what might cause this, or any trouble shooting suggestions .

Thanks a bunch .

Sounds like the charge line wire has rubbed through and is shorting to the frame somewhere.

Presume that the fuse that blows is in the Precept. As the lst poster indicated, that means that somewhere in the line between the Precept fuse and the TOAD there is a short to ground. First try it without the TOAD connected. If it blows its on the Precept side, if it doesn't its on the TOAD. My guess would be the 6 way connector on the TOAD since the fuse doesn't blow when you have no umbilical connected to the Precept.

The fuse is about 6" from the F150 battery, in the charge line. Will check out the 6 and 7 pin connectors . Thanks for input .

Disconnect the cable from the RV, leave it connected to the TOAD and replace the fuse. The fuse is blowing from current coming out of the TOAD battery and back to the coach. Something is wrong upstream

My bet is the 6-way receptacle shorted to ground on the charge line...

This is a predictable problem. If the towed vehicle's battery is not already fully charged, the power draw through the charge line to recharge a discharged battery is too much.
Even if you have totally recharged the toad battery, it may have been damaged and is pulling excessive amps.

This is why the chargeline needs a self resetting breaker
