Seneca FK

Checking with other Seneca owners. We took a trip from Illinois to Joplin, Mo over the Thanksgiving Holiday and encountered a lot of rain. When we tried to refuel had an interesting problem. The water draining off the roof was running right down the front corner of the coach, right behind the cab door and directly into the open fuel tank. Tried everything I could to keep the water out but I'm sure a little got into the fuel tank. Anybody having this issue? Any tricks to shelter the fuel filler neck. Thanks in advance.

Hi there -

We have a 2015 FK and I haven't run into that issue. Our fill caps are far enough back that they are shielded from the rain (unless it's raining sideways, of course). Do you have a 2015 or 2016? I'm wondering if the 2016's are different.

Seneca fk

We have a 2015. I know it sounds strange but the water was running off the roof down the rounded outside corner of the coach. When it hit the bottom of the corner instead of dropping straight down, it was running underneath and dropping nearly straight into the filler neck. Needs some sort of drip ledge I think.
Thanks

Huh..interesting. I've never fueled in the rain at a facility that didn't have an awning, but I've watched the water run straight down the side (outside of the rounded corner). Nothing has ever run toward the fuel caps.

I was sitting at a campground today watching the water from the A/C units run down the side of the coach near the fuel caps and thought about this again. On our unit, the "gutter" ends directly above the side-view camera on each side. The water runs down and hits the camera housing which is ever so slightly angled downward toward the back of the coach (at least when level). The water runs down the side, hits the camera housing and ends up dripping off the corner behind the step. Every so often, I'll see a few drops on the lower stair, but nothing near the fuel cap.

I wonder if things aren't aligned the same way on your Seneca for some reason. As I looked at it, it appears that if the camera housing was tilted the other way, it would direct the water right into the fuel fill area.

Hello Ty, thanks for the reply. I doubt the coaches are much different. My roof drip rail ends a couple inches behind the corner of the coach. Most truck stops are probably not perfectly level and if the slope is towards of the from of the coach, all the water is being directed towards the front corners. Both times when I had this happen I was fueling under a covered roof. Most of the water was just run off. The surface tension just brought the water right under the corner and dropped it off on top of the fuel filler cap. Just a small design flaw. Hope you can avoid it but suspect sooner or later all Seneca owners will run into it.
Thanks and be safe.
