slide out manual over ride 2022 28-BHS

Boy the rotten Easter Eggs in the 2022 28 BHS never ends.

I always want to be prepared just incase things happen so I decided to look up the manual override in case the slide out power fails. I crawled under the coach, consulted the manual and could not find anywhere where it is. I called Jayco direct and gave them the serial number and they sent me a schematic and information on using it.

According to what I am seeing there is a passenger side access point where someone can insert a crank rod or a socket extension through the outer main rail to use a drill or ratchet to move the slide. My rig has the all weather under belly membrane and you guess it. I cant see anything. I did some measuring and from what I am seeing, the access point is in direct line of the Jayport. For any of you who don't know what that is, its where on some rigs a support bracket for the small Blackstone Grill that was supplied on certain models. Its a 2'by 2" channel the bracket slides into. No big deal except the inner side of the channel butts up to the frame and its closed in. The brainiacs at Jayco neglected to leave that end open so that a rod or ratchet extension can be inserted. I have to remove the Jayport bracket to access the manual over ride and its not an easy job.

Really Jayco??? REALLY?

Hi Randy. I don't suppose you could provide a picture of where the access is. I also thought I would see how it was done and I ran into what you mentioned in your post. A picture would be very helpful to see where the manual crank access point is.

Thanks, Karl

That is the problem there is NO access hole in the frame. I called Jayco direct, and they said well maybe under the front step or in the middle of the coach but even they can't tell me where it is. I don't want to start tearing down the under- coach membrane hoping to find it. There should be an access hole and i suspect it is in behind the jayport channel but even Jayco cant tell me and to remove the jayport isn't the end of the world, but it will take some time.

There is nothing on the frame to indicate where even the slide motor is installed. The sad part is that these rigs were thrown together so hap-hazard that even the manufacturer doesn't know what is in half of them or where things are. When new, mine had the wrong furnace installed and the in-floor duct system was blocked off.

Well, that doesn't seem very promising. But thanks for the reply. At this point, I'm just hoping that I don't have to deal with a stuck slide out but I'm not naive enough to know that it won't ever happen.

I also have a 2022 Jayco Eagle 284BHOK that I've had lots of problems with. But, mi e does have a hole in the side for the slide crank. It's inline with the drive assembly which is on the front slide arm. I han't tried to use it. I have a "hatch" cut into the pladtic underbelly to get to the motor if neccesary. You could cut one on yours.
I've actually had the whole underbellly down to close up all the huge mouse holes Jayco left.
