Question Solar on the side port

My 2020 Jaco Jayflight (purchased new in october) has a "Solar on the side" port on the side of the hitch frame and i just bought a 12 volt 25 watt solar panel that has the same type end connection as the SOS port. Can i plug it directly in to keep my battery charged while my unit is in storage or do I need some type of regulator to keep from over charging the battery??

You will probably be safe plugging directly in.

25 watts is only about 1 amp of charging at peak performance.

I don't think it will be an issue due to low amperage (25/12= about 2 amps) and the limited time it will work every day. I have ruined a brand new battery with a 2 amp charger over a winter but it was plugged in 24x7.

How is that possible? Should I unplug the old Dodge?

There are solar panels that will plug in and have an integrated charge controller to protect your battery from over charging, over heating.
