stairwell cover motor

Does anyone know how to access the motor that opens and closes the stairwell cover? My motor works, but it sounds like a gear is slipping and the cover only slides out about a quarter of the way.

Thanks.

Same thing happened to me. I removed the front panel. There is a bar with teeth that moves the step cover in and out. The one on mine had just came loose and needed to be re-mounted. I did this while the step cover was out. It was tough but has been fine since. But to answer your question, I could not figure how to take it completly apart. I was very lucky...Good Luck...D
