@001 Exec, 40' ZipDee main awning

What am I facing here folks? We are in the middle of a 2-week trip. I went to pull out the main awning (23'? 27'?) and with a mighty clank the beast descended upon my head and shoulder. I assume the main spring broke. There is no tension at all on the roll. Mobile RV repair services are not an option. Carrying it to a dealership is not an option. Can I roll this thing back up manually (with the help of a couple of stout friends) and at least get it back home so I can start taking it apart to replace the spring?

Yes...
go to home depot or somewhere like that and get some LONG zip ties and some help !

maybe use a rope to pull it in as you roll it up...

(The number of times I've seen this posted on here is the main reason I ordered some 3' long ones to store in my rv - I figured 50 would be enough )

When mine broke the spring "hook" that attaches it to the assembly it made a similar noise. I removed the spring assembly, and bent the end of the spring into shape for a temp repair and reinstalled. Not a difficult fix to perform in the field IF that's what the problem is. Good luck and enjoy the rest of your trip!

Can I assume that the spring is only 5'-6' in length? Do not see dimensions listed and hope it doesn't run full-length!
