03 Dynasty Oil Pressure Sending Unit ISL 400

I am having difficulty locating the oil sending unit on the ISL 400 engine. My dash oil pressure gauge pegged, so, after checking the oil pressure off the ECM via my Silverleaf VMSpc then disconnecting the gauge itself and testing it I am pretty sure the problem lies with the sending unit itself or perhaps the wiring to it.

Neither Monaco nor Cummins can tell me the location of the sender on the engine. Cummins says that it was installed by the chassis manufacturer and could be anywhere. Monaco tells me it's a "bell shaped device" with two terminals and it's a VDO part# 360-023, nut no one in tech support knows where it is on an '03 ISL. I found a picture of of the VDO sender, see attached, but still cannot find anything like it on the engine. I've looked from above and below on left side and right side with no success.

I am obviously missing something, somewhere. Advice would be appreciated.

sender

On the Cummins M11 & ISM the sender is located above the oil filter

lonestarace, Thanks for the tip. I checked the bracket at the top of the engine it's not there... I even felt around and stuck a camera down to snap some picts from places I cannot stick my head.

Also, I heard from Monaco, they confirmed that the sending unit number is correct and said the sender is screwed into the engine block next to the oil filter bracket. It's not anywhere in sight there, or on the bracket as far as I can see.

Still puzzled.

AHA! Second time I checked with Monaco I was told to check the block above the starter... there it was. Now all I need to do is get a new sending unit and figure out how to squeeze in to make the replacement.

Perhaps the earlier ISL's, with a water filter on the street side, use the oil port above the starter on the curb side and newer ones use the port next to the oil filter. Had I known where the iol ports were it might have made the search a bit easier. Why Cummins couldn't/wouldn't answer my questions I do not know, they surely sold thousands of engines to Monaco...
