Biscuit has a good point. Switch the fridge to propane and see if it will run.

Switching to gas will likely get it to cool down. But it may not resolve the GFI question.

I'm sure we've all been shocked (literally and figuratively) way too many times to not pay attention to electricity. I'd almost put money on it being a bad GFI or - as mentioned - a heating element failure, however...


Here's hoping you get it fixed.

ok. Will check the gfci and go from there. Is it normal for the heat element to go out like that. Worked fine then just go out??

Not 'normal', but yes they can fail in that mode.

My frig suddenly started tripping GFI. Unplugged ice maker and all worked. Had shop trouble shoot the next visit. Was a frayed ice maker wire behind the frig.

Electric heat elements work or don't......no slightly work or slowly failing.

Can work today and NOT work later on.
They burn out/short....done

That is how it is with electric heat elements.
