'05 Monaco Knight Solar Install

We are installing 975W of solar on our '05 Monaco Knight 38PDQ. I intend to feed the wires down through the fridge vent and down the left side (cool side) of the refrigerator cavity.

There is a cavity below the fridge floor and above the ceiling of the propane bay. The cavity is the height of the furnace. Can I safely drill a 1" hole in the fridge floor and another in the propane bay ceiling to feed my wires through this cavity and into the propane bay?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

Just make sure you measure to miss any structural cross members and seal the holes up well to keep critters out and keep the wires from chaffing. I'm not sure of the correctness of running electrical through the propane bay though and I certainly wouldn't mount any electrical components there.

I replaced my Norcold with a Samsung. I had to tear out the refrigerator platform and lower the furnace to the floor.

In my case, looking from the inside of the refrigerator cavity, the propane line came up on the the right side and provided a connection to the propane and then a line went under the furnace to the left side and up through the platform floor to provide propane to the fridge.

There were also bundles of both 12 volt and 120 volt wiring on both sides of the fridge. The two outlets for the fridge were also located on the right wall with the wires coming down from above.

The flue for the chimney was located in the back left hand corner so I doubt you can run wires there.

On the right side you may be able to drill a hole from behind the refrigerator down but you'll have to confirm if there are any wires or propane lines that may be hit. Then drill a hole up from the compartment ceiling below but again have to check for propane lines and wires.

Good Luck

Thanks. I was able to figure it out from the inside. There's a large leuvered cover under the refrigerator that opened up to the furnace cavity from the inside. Now I can see where to drill!
