10KW Onan shuts down in the rain
I have searched around on this and have not found anything.
My 05 Executive 10KW Onan will shut down if driving in the rain. Takes maybe 20 miles of rain and just shuts off. The start stop light may be dead or may randomly flash and certainly will not crank or prime when asked.
10 miles or so out of the rain, all is normal again.
I have replaced the start stop switch in the unit, checked, cleaned and put lube on the large plug that connects the genset to the coach wiring.
I have pulled over in the rain and checked the genset, it is basically dry.
Wondering if the wiring is perhaps breached somewhere and the tires are pushing water somewhere into the wheel wells and wire bundles that is causing an issue.
I have not caught it "yet" after it shuts down fast enough to pull over, unplug the main interface wiring to see if it will then start back up. Obviously, this would tell me coach or genset wiring.
Till then (because this happens so rare I drive with the genset on in the rain), anyone ever heard or experience this?
Thanks
Windecker
