Question 1988 Crown Royale Badge

G'day guys,
I have a 1988 Crown Royale I imported into Australia last year. Yes, 1988, we have these stupid laws which prevent us from importing a Motorhome unless it was built before Jan 1, 1989.

Anyway, on our last trip, high winds have removed and taken one of the 'Crown Royale by Monaco' badges on the side of the Motorhome. Image attached with yellow circle showing where badge was.

Can these be sourced anywhere, new or second hand?

Regards
Rod

That's a pretty Old Rig to be looking for original Trim parts!

I'm curious as to why Australia has such an Old Vehicle Import Policy! It seems counter productive as most Vehicles of that Vintage must be bears when trying to update or source parts!

This site lists nearly every known RV salvage yard in the USA. I'm sorry I can't vouch for how up to date it is.

Hi Rob,
good question mate. Whether they're trying to protect local manufacturers or have some other strange reason, I'm not sure. Under this "Pre-1989 Scheme" we're considered an enthusiast and can bring them in as a personal import. I think there are similar regulations on importing cars.
Some say we're extremely over regulated here, others say it's all about road safety but the process of having this type of vehicle inspected and approved for use on our roads, is pretty crude, considering its weight and size. Because it weighs over 4.5 metric tonne, it must be coverted to Right Hand Drive. People bringing in cars from the US, which are 25 years old or older, can leave them Left Hand Drive.

Regards
Rod

I belong to the Moncoers Yahoo Group, a great place specific to Monaco products. One of the members was able to replicate an emblem for an older coach. You have to be approved to join but I would advise posting this question on the group.

The group has senior members that are a wealth of info when it comes to trouble shooting and repairs.
