1994 Crown Royale Signature Edition Ride Height

I just replaced my rear ride height valves and called Monaco to confirm the ride height setting. They said front and rear should be set 11" plate to plate.

When I eyeballed it, it came out closer to 8 1/2" or 9".

Does 11" match what you are setting the ride height to?

A reply from Monacoers offered up that the front should be 9 1/2" front and 11" rear, measured plate to plate on the airbag mounts.

Paul we really dont have anyone in the new Monaco that knows much about the older coaches, The 9.5 F and 11 R is what is posted for our 2000 Dyn and I think the Tec is wrong I believe your coach will be 9 and 9 and I know he was wrong on how he told you to measure the ride height flange to flange is not correct you need to measure H frame to main frame. Monaco started the flange to flange some time after 2003?? not sure when and no one with the new Monaco knows or didnt when I asked.
I will post the procedure for you. I attached the old spec sheet but it wont have your coach but I will post a spec sheet for 2000 and above and I would think your coach will be the same as the Sig and Exe.

I appreciate the info! Now I have 3 answers!

This weekend I'll get back to the campground and measure it. I also have 3-way valves so I can fully extend the rear bags to get up my driveway so I can see what measurements when they are at max extension.

When I fully extended it after eyeballing it, the rear raised about 2 inches at the wheel arch.

Wish me luck!

Paul

I was under the coach today and set It to 9" plate to plate.

At full bag inflation, it is a little under 11" plate to plate,

I have a 94 signature series. So I'm wondering as you measure the distances to the plates, Do you measure bottom of the top plate and top of the bottom plate? Or is there another way?

I used a ratchet bar clamp/spreader and measured to the outside of the plates and reduced the distance between the jaws by 1/2" to allow for the 1/4" top and bottom plates.

Harbor Freight sells them for a few dollars and even gives them away with a coupon at times.

Loren the your coach ride height is not set by the air bag measurements, it is suposed to be set by the H frame to Main frame. The air bag plate measurement started some time in the mid2000

1994 Crown Royale Signature Edition Ride Height

Walt,

I'll take another look, but 9" at the frame will likely be 2" lower than what I have it set at. I believe I am pretty close to 11" at the frame right now.

That would match the measurement from Monaco, but not the measurement point.

Paul do a search on this forum on ride height and if you are a member of Monacoers post your question there. The ride height of your coach i am not sure but would think that 9 and 9 would be right, the procedure i am positive it is from H frame to main frame. I dont think the extra height would hurt the drive shaft but not sure how much drive shaft angle the coach can stand, the extra 2 inches must have the coach standing pretty high.

Thanks Walt,

I have been exchanging posts with Bill on Monacoers too.

It looks pretty level right now, but will measure some more and report back.

I was able to get back under it this morning. I set the ride height to 11" H-Frame to main Frame. The top of the storage cabinets is 43" front to rear.

The air bags measured about 8 1/2" plate to plate.
