1994 Monaco Dynasty

I am seriously considering a 94 Dynasty and would appreciate any/all comments you might have. I will have it professionally inspected, but also want your feedback. I will be using it to tow a 3 horse trailer all over the country. My biggest "worry" is the engine/transmission etc. I can do interior modifications but have zero knowledge of mechanicals. Thank you in advance for your comments.

We had a 1994 38' Dynasty Baron, for a little over 5 years, from 2001 to the fall of 2006. When we traded it for our '06, it had about 65,000 miles on it. The engine and transmission never gave us any problems, to speak of. We did lose a water pump, which I was actually able to replace, myself, along with the serpentine belt. We had to overhaul the alternator, once, and we found the exhaust brake to be pretty finicky. The transmission never gave us a burp, and the engine itself, didn't either. It was a nice coach, and gave us in the 6 to 7 mpg range on fuel, with its 300 HP Cummins engine. We almost always had either a 1995 Tahoe or 5,600 pound 2005 Acura MDX behind it.

The coach electrical systems seemed to be pretty well designed, yet pretty simple. That's not all bad. The plumbing system was good, as was the HVAC. On our rig, maintenance of the generator was a bit difficult, and I always had the folks at Cummins take care of it while it was on the hoist for the engine and chassis service. There was a front removable hatch, but as I recall there wasn't a lot of the generator or engine available for service through that access.

The only two things we didn't like about the coach were that it did not have any slides, and the floor plan was one where the bathroom offered very little or no privacy. Other than that, it was really a pretty great coach!

Look for other comments. That was eight years ago, and probably a lot fewer miles than the coach you are likely looking at. So there will likely be much more experienced comments coming in.

Good luck and whatever you choose, do enjoy!
